6 Steps to Treat Erectile Dysfunction or Impotence?

I have done a lot of research over the years now to find cures for Erectile Dysfunction, but treatment comes in many forms. The cause of Erectile Dysfunction differs from man to man and so in turn will the treatment.

Even so, before we can think about the treatment I always say you should take the 5 steps listed below.

1. Accept

This is bigger than you think, accepting that you have ED can be the start of a weight lifting from your shoulders, "acceptance".

It's all a bit psychological really; bringing yourself out of the shadows and saying "yes I have erectile dysfunction is the first step on the ladder to hopefully identifying the cause and treating it.

2. Share

Sharing your problem with your wife/partner is also another weight-lifting experience. Bringing Erectile Dysfunction out and into the open can sometimes be halfway to curing the problem. 

If you have attempted to have sex recently and failed the next time could be an anxious moment and the more you think about it the more you are likely to fail again. If your wife/partner is aware of your situation you may be able to slowly bring penetrative sex back into the bedroom by introducing touching and close contact first.

As they say, a problem shared is a problem halved.

3. Go to the Doctor

Seems obvious really doesn't it, but a lot of men do not like talking about their sex life to the doctor. Your doctor will also ask you if you smoke, your alcohol intake, diet, weight, and do you exercise. All of these are linked to Erectile Dysfunction.

4. Start Having Sex Again

"How am I supposed to do that with Erectile Dysfunction" I hear you say! Well get your doctor to prescribe you Viagra or Cialis or Levitra, they are all PDE 5 inhibitors (which I will go into in a later post) but they all act the same way and will definitely assist you with poor erections. 

But here is the thing, Don't and I say Don't think of these drugs as the answer to your problem, they are not curing Erectile Dysfunction they are only addressing the symptom. You have an underlying health problem that needs to be addressed.

5. Treatment

So the tests are back from the doctors, you will have physical, psychological, or lifestyle problems and more often than not they will be linked. 

For instance, you may have high blood pressure and high cholesterol (physical). This may be because you eat too many burgers and you don't exercise (lifestyle). You may have a high-pressure job or a relationship problem or a death in the family that will bring on stress and depression (psychological).
